To design an alternative movie poster for a pre existing movie, and communicate the message and themes of the film accordingly throughout the piece.
Process
When I recieved the task to design a unique movie poster for a film, I instantly knew what film I wanted to choose “It’s such a beautiful day” by Don Hertzfeldt. Even though this is my favorite film, I found it challenging to capture the films essence in a single image. I opened up photoshop and experimented with color, brushes, and texture to create a magical yet somber mood, much like the film. I also searched through different typefaces and decided on a simple, typewriter like font, to not take away from the piece above it. Using the lines of light to guide the viewer through the artwork and down to the information, the composition, colors, and fonts all work tremendously well, and successfully show viewers how wonderful this film really is in an instant.
