Prototype
Objective
To design a mobile application dedicated to helping manage anxiety symptoms and related emotional difficulties and live a more fulfilling life.
Process
When conceptualizing a mental health app, I realized it was important to me to address anxiety and meditation. Anxiety is a struggle many people deal with on a daily basis, and applications like these are designed to aid them in their times of crisis. With my plan set in motion, I began designing the app. To begin, I developed wireframes; within these wireframes, I deemed it necessary to include a screening process. During this quiz, the app can develop a better understanding of its user, and tune its programs to fit the users needs. I also conceptualized the panic attack notification; a notification that is always present on your phone's notifications bar. If you are in a crisis, you can press it with the tap of a button, and be taken to a source of relaxation, such as breathing exercises or affirmations. Once the wireframes were set in place, I designed the look of the website. I found a soft green would be the ultimate choice for the color scheme; not only is it tied to nature, a very relaxing element of our world, it is also linked to growth. The color will make users who have taken interest in this app relax immediately. I also included plenty of calming imagery to compliment these colors; placing all of these elements in a style guide for quick and easy reference. When the design had been completed, I moved onto prototyping; focusing on making it not only easy to understand for the user, but also quick and simple to navigate through. The final result is soothing, relaxing, and very effortless to use. This quality of effortlessness will aid anyone in a crisis, guiding them with a shining light into a sense of release.
